The OYO provides youth baseball and softball recreational leagues for children, regardless of ability, under a “fairplay” atmosphere focusing on player participation, training, and development. It sponsors 11 recreational baseball and softball leagues.
The OYO plays and practices at the Veterans Memorial Park, the premier community baseball and softball facility in the area, with thirteen fields, three of which are lighted. Four of the fields have grass infields, quality portable mounds, and 200 foot fences and are convertible to 46/65 (9U and 10U) and 50/70 (11U and 12U) fields. The two regulation size fields, 60/90 (14U and above) have grass infields and portable mounds with 300 foot fences. One of the fields is convertible to 54/80 (13U. The OYO provides two full service concession stands and two well maintained indoor restroom facilities. The OYO is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, not-for-profit Corporation the purpose of which is to provide an instructional youth sports organization for the children of our community.
The OYO travel baseball program was established as a self-sufficient affiliate to give kids a more competitive option. While OYO provides the infrastructure (field space, organization affiliation, etc.) to allow these teams to be formed and represent OYO around the city and state, each team is self-funded through team registration fees, sponsorships, and fundraising activities. The OYO’s travel program was launched in 2005 and typically fields up to 14 full-time and rec-travel baseball teams.
